Many aspiring authors equate “getting published” with visions of New York Times bestseller status and wads of money rolling in. The truth is that this is an achievable outcome, and many many authors do in fact make a very comfortable living by writing novels. It IS POSSIBLE.
These successful authors started out small, just like you will. Most of them were starving artists for many years, working hard at the day jobs to pay the bills, and writing in their spare time. They kept writing. They kept honing their craft. They kept learning about how to improve their writing skills. They kept writing. They kept writing for many years. They wrote a bunch of books. They kept writing. At some point they probably gave up hope of ever making any money. They kept writing anyway. Because they love doing it.
Writing is a hobby. Writing will always be a hobby, until, at some point, if you are lucky, your books will start selling more and more, and people will start hearing about you, and the whole thing might just take off and become profitable. Until then, ask yourself this: “Do I love writing?”
If you do, if you really love it, you just gotta keep writing and we will be here for you to help in whatever way we can.
