Vida Wood
Vida wood is a special type of wood imbued with magical abilities. The wood comes from the rare “Vida Tree” (actually more like a low shrub), which grows only in high mana loci.
The tree is very slow growing, and grows only in high mana loci. Typically however, high mana loci tend to be on high rocky mountaintops with very poor growing conditions. They tend to be barren rocky spots prone to high wind and cold temperatures. These factors combine to contribute to the extreme rarity of vida wood. Additionally, the trees tend to be small and gnarled, so that when wood is obtainable, it is generally too twisted for woodworking. Artifacts are typically limited to small twisty wands. Staffs have been referred to in legend, but their veracity is unknown.
Vida Wood has the ability to retain mana (i.e. Magic Points), therefore, a wand or staff made of Vida Wood, provides the wielder with extra MP. See alternate spell power mechanisms
A typical wand holds d20 MP. A staff could theoretically hold a maximum of d100 MP, but, if any exist, staffs are very rare. (have you ever tried making a long straight staff out of a short gnarled stick?)
Possession of any Vida wood objects reduces MP cost for all Health spells by ½.
