History

Raised and trained by Vorzic.

(fathers raise sons, mothers raise daughters)

Reputation as youth: charming, mischievous and destructive.

Showed skill in Pole-arms and Great Weapons, and had an insatiable curiosity, running off to explore

At 12yrs, Vorzric, in frustration with the perceived shame I was bringing on the Clan, asked his friend Nadaar, the great adventurer, to indenture me, and travel with him and his party. This infuriated me, but I obeyed his wishes

For 5 years, I travelled with Nadaar. As an impish young warrior, the group rode me hard, and didn't suffer my shenanigans gladly. Although they could be stern, I was encouraged to grow and increase my skills . Over time I learned the importance of honouring promises and standing by friends. Nadaar, in particular, encouraged me to embrace personal excellence and honour. Over time I came to view our party as my surrogate Clan.

During one expedition into bowels of of an abandoned church, due to my inattention, I was caught out by a Flying Sword that nearly decapitated me! Nadaar was able to heal my wound, but I have a terrible scar to my neck, therefore I always wear a Keffiyah, to hide it.

When Nadaar released me from my apprenticeship, he gifted me with my prized Glaive that I call Cutting Response. On my return home, my sire Vorzric was still mistrustful of my changed ways. There was a great argument and I swore to not reenter Tymanther until Vorzic apologized. My sister Adgrah is furious with me.

Shortly after this, the story came out that Nadaar had gone missing (embarked on a private quest). Feeling that I owed him for the training and experience he had given me, I swore an oath to find him. Since then, I have roamed the Sword Coast looking for clues to his whereabouts. I recently heard that Hama Pashar, one of Nadaar’s Party, was in the Waterdeep area.

Quest

  1. Malmac seeks Hama Pashar, one of Nadaar’s Party who was recently known to have been in Waterdeep.
  2. Hama Pashar has come to search for Nadaar because she beleives he has entered undermountain. (He left her a clue, knowing her honor would demand she traxk him, but he built in delays into the clues)
  3. Nadaar in turn is seeking Urtos III (see below) Many years ago, Nadaar visited the Phylund Hunting Lodge and has been slowly investigating the family lore. He managed to uncover a map which led him to the secret river passage and into Undermountain(level 3, DOTMM p45 waterfall dumps just upstream of loc 16b. He left the gnolls intact to reduce the chances of being follyby anyone else.
  4. Malmac will find a note from Nadaar to Hama, with this map

Urtos III

After Urtos II Phylund, was allegedly killed by wolves in 1365 DR, making the infant Urtos III the new heir, and his mother Aridarye regent of House Phylund.

It is unclear whether Urtos III is really the son of Urtos II or his mother Aridarye's secret lover Prendergast Brokengulf.

But Urtos II was not dead, merely having been inflicted with lycanthrope and gone into hiding. He returned to Waterdeep less than a tenday after his father's funeral, thwarting his mother's plot. – and contrived to spend full moons in secrecy at the Phylund Lodge in the Ardeep Forest.

Eventually Urtos II's secret became public giving the family a short lived and much needed publicity boost, Before the werewolf eventual death. Over the next hundred years the family's fortunes began to wane and Urtos III exiled himself into his own private reclusive obscurity. Successive generations could barely keep the family business afloat, and those staying at the Lodge returned to the Villa at Waterdeep and by the 1480s DR the lodge had fallen into disrepair for quite some time.

Around 1485'ish the Red Wizard necromancer, Thegger Grynn, led a group of Thayan Gnolls to the Lodge where they used it as base to terrorize the surrounding countryside while Thegger Grynn experimented on the corpses entombed in the crypts below.

Within the crypts there was a shrine to Tempus, and behind that a secret shrine to Malar.

There was also an ancient shrine to Malar with ancient cave paintings on the cavern walls even deeper, implying that the Lodge was built by the megalith on top of the existing cavern system and ancient shrine of Malar. Another much older family secret. Perhaps suggesting that the lycanthrope might not have originated with the mysterious wolf attack, but may be a much older family legacy

It is unclear whether Urtos III somehow attained unnatural longevity on his own, or inherited it from his lycanthrope ancestors or if perhaps he was resurrected by Theggor Grynn.

There is a secret linkage to Undermountain from the crypts by way of an undergound river
