Aldani Basin Swamps
- Hazards: quicksand, biting insects, poisonous plants, or diseases like swamp fever. These natural challenges add layers of realism and suspense to the party's trek.
- Scattered throughout the basin are crumbling ruins of ancient Chultan civilizations. The party might discover forgotten relics, glyphs, buildings, but they are mostly buried in water, mud, and peat. Perhaps the odd tower juts out.
- Swamp Beasts: Add dangers like crocodiles, venomous snakes, or will-o’-wisps. Perhaps a hydra or shambling mound lurks in the water, ready to ambush the unwary.
- Dense Fog and Illusions: The swamps are often shrouded in thick fog, making navigation perilous. You could add magical illusions or enchantments to further disorient the party and create an eerie atmosphere. These effects are created by the Aldani to scare off visitors.
- The Aldani (Lobsterfolk): The Aldani, who gave the basin its name, are humanoid creatures with lobster-like features. Some say they were cursed by Ubtao for their greed. Your party might encounter these reclusive beings, territorial protectors of their domain, but will accurately answer any questions truthfully if it means getting rid of unwelcome guests.
