the fractures are caused by the summoning and then the imprisonment of Riskell, an Avatar for the long-since imprisoned Mad Destroyer God Tharizdun.
The fractures can only be closed properly by a special crystal that Uala has.
You already know there is a small group of Order new recruits like yourself who have been paired with Uala's echo, who also has one of those crystals and is helping to close fractures.
It seems likely that the order is going to try to get me to create a parallel group.
The fractures are getting stronger and worse, and are taking a much longer time to close.
