This is an old revision of the document!

Main Plot

The Continent of Drasall is literally breaking apart, rips in reality, are appearing which have been dubbed as “fractures” these are appearing in all four countries within Drasall (this is the name of the country/continent that you are currently in), word has been sent to other continents to see if these events are happening on an even bigger scale. These fractures are allowing creatures of all types to pour into this world, and some are doorways to other planes of existence allowing even further destruction to Drasall. At first, the fractures were small, and few and far between but now they are happening more and more frequently, causing panic and fear amongst the people of the lands.

Connections

You have recently been reached out to by a member of a group called the Order of Knowing.

they found your particular skills and abilities intriguing, you have not b been assigned a faction within the order yet, and you are VERY low on the totem pole and have not even met any of the “elders.” A very stuck up, snobby, I am better than you personality Assimar named Eleith reached out to you, she told you she was sent to retrieve you and bring you to a meeting place, she was clearly not happy to do this, she was flanked by a Goliath named Thathok and an elderly sorcerer named Warren. Thathok is very friendly but dumb as mud, Warren is OLD and looks/acts like he should retire, whereas Eleith is young and spry. These three members are usually in one of the many “Order Halls” and not usually on the field, as they remind you OFTEN. They have told you that you were seen and that their superiors were impressed with some of your skills and would like to offer you a place within their ranks, if you should accept you will be put through trials for the first year, never seeing the inside of an Order Hall, and if after your year you still wish to remain a member, and you are worth their time you will be placed within a Faction that suits your skills. Factions are marked by strange/magical tattoos on each person's arm, this tattoo prevents betrayal within the Faction among other things of which you are not yet informed of. These three are part of a faction, they never tell you their faction name, only that they are supposed to be mostly retired but still keep getting sent out on missions. You do however know that there are many factions within The Order, each with its own purpose and skills.

You accepted their offer (for whatever reason your character might have for doing so, maybe they promised you something etc). And you have been a member for about six months now, halfway through your year of trials with them. It started out as taking on missions with other “newbies” and one or two higher-ranking members, then you went on some missions with just a couple of newbies, and then you were sent on some solo missions.

FIXME Feel free to use your imagination on the missions, they would be low to middle tier, nothing too epic or special.

Mission

You have been tasked with following a group of adventurers that have been hired by King Hardwin (he rules Sharn & Gribbi, his brother King Mikael rules over Belia & Mabar) to look into the fractures and find the missing adventurers that he originally hired.

FIXME questions

  1. why have the adventurers not reported back to King hardwin?
  2. What is King hardwin like?
  3. Is he worth loyalty? Have they purposefully broken ties?
  4. in any case, Why is the order getting involved in the King's business?

Progress

You have been tailing the missing adventurers for a few days now, you were told to keep yourself hidden and inconspicuous.

You and your mentors went to Watford(in Belia), FIXME am I paying as a trainee for the adventurers?

you all arrived a week or so before the “Summer Festival” which celebrates the first day of Summer and the Summer Equinox.

You were given your own room at the Crossroads Inn, the owner's name is Gertrude, and your mentors had their own rooms as well,

the mentors told you to keep your distance from them and to simply observe and gather intel from the adventurers.

Fob (a gnome sorcerer, who the Order has an interest in), Naivara (a Drow Druid), Einar (a Human Dragon Knight) and his sapphire dragon companion Cendy (pronounced cindy), Rayway (a Human Bard), and Uala (a water elemental-like Elf woman she is an NPC). So you did what you were told, you watched them and gathered some information for your mentors who then approached the party during the Summer Festival.

Intel

You learned the following:

  1. The party was harbouring a fugitive named Valbar Springmane, a Gnome who was once a member of The Order, however they stole items and knowledge and left The Order and has been in hiding for a very long time. They refer to him as Merv. This NPC has now been taken by The Order to face trial for his crimes against them.
    1. in other words the party abetted a order fugitive
  2. They have a strong alliance with the local Blacksmith Christina (she is a half-Orc who has a thing for Raywa)
  3. Einar somehow creates a portal where his dragon companion lives, and he himself can go in and out of this said portal (it is a special pocket dimension) but no one else can.
  4. This party has learned a lot about the fractures: they are caused by the summoning and then the imprisonment of a creature known as Riskell The Destroyer, or The Riskell, which is an Avatar of sorts for the long-since imprisoned Mad Destroyer God Tharizdun. The fractures can only be closed properly by a special crystal that Uala has. You already know there is a small group of Order new recruits like yourself who have been paired with another being who looks almost identical to Uala, she also has one of those crystals and is helping to close fractures. The fractures are getting stronger and worse, and are taking a much longer time to close. The other being that looks like Uala is called her Echo, but the party was pretty tight-lipped in public about this situation so you don't know more than that right now.
  5. They have recently been joined by two new companions, Opal who is a Tabaxi Druid and is best friends with Christina the Blacksmith, and Demona a Tiefling Monk who appears to be a stranger to them that they have trusted to join their group.
  6. They are going to a town that is overrun by a fracture, this town is called Zalfar, and you already know that the other group (with the staff and element elf woman) have gone there to also try and close the fracture, you did not learn this from the party, your mentors told you and have asked you to follow them. I will send you another email with an update on what you see them do on this mission, and any other missions they do from now till you join to match your “tailing” task.
  7. “Merv” has been taken by another Faction within The Order, and is being brought to one of the Order Halls to face a trial for his crimes against The Order of Knowing. You also know that Rav (she was a player who has moved to Williams Lake. ) has left the party to join her brother, who is a member of the Faction that took Merv. (There is an entire backstory to that, but it isn't really important to the storyline unless she comes back to PG and rejoins the campaign). Your mentors have “left” but are still keeping an eye on you by their own means, which you really don't know much about, and they told you to keep following the party and to report back to them using a special journal they have given you. This is a magical item that allows for communication, it twins with another book and whoever has it's twin can read what you write, and can write back to you. These are rare items, and only a handful of them exist. Via this book you are to send reports back to your mentors with information and details, you are not to engage until the time is right aka when you join the campaign in January :D.
