Johan is the “official mage” of Connaught. He is not a very advanced mage. Once the PCs become more advanced than him, the Jarl will probably realize that Johan is a bit of a pretender, and will fire him in favor of hiring out to the PCs instead. He may offer them lodgings in the castle and a monthly “retainer” fee.
