=====Urtos's secret===== Urtos III Phylund is a historical figure (secretly still alive) lurking in the fountain of ngalish under Waterdeep. His story is gradually revealed to Xundia through his diary === Entry From Volo's History of Waterdeep=== //Urtus III became infant lord, when his father Urtos II Phylund, was (allegedly) killed by wolves in 1365 DR, making his mother Aridarye regent of House Phylund. It is unclear whether Urtos III is really the son of Urtos II or his mother Aridarye's then-secret (but later not so secret) lover Prendergast Brokengulf. However, Urtos II was never dead. He had been inflicted with lycanthrope and gone into hiding at the Phylund Lodge in the Ardeep Forest. Eventually Urtos II's secret became public giving the family a short lived and much needed publicity boost, Before the werewolf's eventual death. The family drama caused Urtos III to disassociate with society and seek his own reclusive lifestyle, fading into obscurity as even his family lost track of him. Over the years the family's fortunes began to wane as successive generations could barely keep the family business afloat, those staying at the Lodge returned to the Villa at Waterdeep and the lodge fell into disrepair. Eventually, even the villa was sold at coopers over gold, and the desperate Phylund family members took on work within the business class in Waterdeep, Neverwinter, and elsewhere. // ===the Secret=== Urtos III is erroneously assumed to be long dead, but he inherited unnatural longevity from his lycanthrope ancestors. He spent many years investigating lycanthropy, believing that, after learning his father's fate, it may also be his. Urtos III is unaware that his father yet lives. In the guise of Count Strahd of Barovia. ===The amulet=== Using hired alchemy and magic, Urtos sought "a cure" from local sorcerers, druids, ad charlatans, eventually ending up with a single dose of a blood elixir housed in a pewter amulet. Supposedly, the elixer would cure lycanthropy. In reality, it does this by effectively blocking ALL shapeshifting. Urtos sensed that the potion may not work as intended and has been avoiding consuming it. Instead he became more and more reclusive, sleeping for weeks at a time and rarely feeding, eventually growing quite week. He is currently strong enough only to flee as a bat or rat but will feed and return for revenge if disturbed. ==Wearing the Amulet== Wearing the amulet has a reverse effect from the elixer. It causes an enhanced form of lycanthropy which allows the user to transform at will into a Dire Wolf while the amulet is worn. The stats are as per Dire Wolf, with the following exceptions: *The character retains their top two stat bonuses *Bite damage increases with each kill beginning at 2d6, and + 1 per kill.
