Ender is an Aasimar paladin played by Allan Dawson.

He is mute but his imp familiar Calcifer speaks for him.

Ender unwittingly enacted some minor slight against [[npcs#Asmodeus]] 
, so Asmodeus, being the asshole he is, ordered and bonded Calcifer to torture and corrupt Ender.

During the bonding process, Calcifer, exploring the emotions and mind of his new host, felt love for the first time. Calcifer was now connected to something wonderful and loving, and Calcifer changed fundamentally.

Allan originally stated that "Calcifer helped Ender escape Hell." I'm flipping this around: Ender's humanity helped Calcifer escape hell".

Was this a part of Asmodeus' perverse plan, or is it a divergence from his plan. Only the DM knows for sure.
