===== Torch of Stealth =====

A torch of stealth is a torch that can be used to light your way, but has a magic effect that prevents others from spotting the light given off by it.

It is created by bending space in toward the torch, then casting a light spell onto it. Typically using dim, invisible or some type of alter wavelength spell. After the light spell is cast, space is allowed to bounce back away from the torch, so that the light spell is now effective on a spherical area around the torch. Effective radii is chosen by the caster at time of creation.

=== Enchanting a torch ===

Torch of Stealth does not require crafting skills, and can be created by player characters who have the [[skills:Enchanting]] perk and know the required spells. However they must be used right away, before the spells wear off. This limitation may be removed by also casting [[magic:spells:truth#Hide Object]] (for an additional 25 MP at diff 30), allowing the torch to be stored for up to a month before use.

the general "recipe" for Torch of Stealth is as follows:
  - cast [[magic:spells:space#Fold Space]] at difficulty 20 (cost 15 MP)
  - cast one of the Light spells
  - cast [[magic:spells:truth#Hide Object]] if desired, at difficulty 30 (cost 25 MP)

Separate cast rolls are made for the required spells. If all casts succeed, then the MP is spent. If any fail, no MP is spent and the spells may be tried again.

Torches of Stealth with a shelf life (subtype c) have a healthy demand on the black market, so spending days off creating them is a good way for a good spell caster to make money. Expect to reasonably make maximum 5 per day (or until you run out of MP). Requires a source of regular torches, and a quiet place to work. If your town has a thieves' guild, they will control trade of Torches of Stealth. 

Subtype C Torches of Stealth may be found while looting dungeons. These are usually type 1c or 2c.
