Ak tries to rely on diplomacy to make his way through life. This experience makes him a trusted advisor and a shrewd businessman, at least in his own mind. He feels that Istus, Goddess of Fate and Destiny, has favored him in this, and thus he is obliged to serve her, which he does somewhat reluctantly at times, due to the perceived infringement on his own free will.  Ak tries to rely on diplomacy to make his way through life.  +Istus is neither in the Gnomish nor Sword Coast pantheon, but an obscure foreign god from Baklunish in GreyHawk. Ak's learning comes from a prized book which explains the strange metaphysics of the worshippers of Istus, wherein the multiverse is conceived of as an intricate mesh of interconnected threads, with everything connected to everything else. They are believers in predestination, although the threads of fate are sometimes slack enough that destiny can be altered in some small way. Because the future is for the most part foreordained, it can be permitted by those with the skills to perceive how the threads are linked. Clerics of Istus teach that acceptance of one's fate is the only honest approach; those who strive too hard against Fate will only meet their own foreordained ruins.

Ak also carries (concealed) a Dagger Of Fate, which deals d4 damage, but gives the wielder the ability to alter the fate of the attacked creature by implanting one Very Bad Choice (determined by the wielder) into the mind of the attacked. The Very Bad Choice is enacted on the attacked creatures next turn, then drops out of the creature's mind. Ak also carries (concealed) a Dagger Of Fate, which deals d4 damage, but gives the wielder the ability to alter the fate of the attacked creature by implanting one Very Bad Choice (determined by the wielder) into the mind of the attacked.
