+Uala is an Enaldi so is her Echo. They do not procreate, and are not born and technically don't die. The Enaldi are creatures from the plane of water, and on this plane they are guardians and creatures of the life stream, which runs through the land and is the source of it's magic, (though bottled it is just water and has no power, it only has purpose or power as it runs through the world).
+When it is time for an Enaldi to "die" it just means they have lived their life and must return to the life stream, from which they are "born" from, and when this happens an "echo" rises from the stream, whose purpose is to take over for the Enaldi they are an echo of and continue their role or responsibility. (They all have their own appearance and personalities they are not clones). However the "original" needs to train and teach their echo, then when they are ready the original passes on their knowledge along to the echo who then is given a name, and the original can pass into the lifestream and the echo continues on, and one day will have their own echo.
+Uala was not at her clan home when her echo rose from the life stream, and although they knew their purpose and who they are taking over for they are only half of who they are meant to be. The order got ahold of them and convinced the echo to work for them and they would help her find Uala so they could do what needed to be done. Because of this "halfness" both uala and the echo must meet, and at the very least merge together otherwise both will cease to exist and neither will return to the life stream. Uala can telepathically connect to her echo, but the echo does not have that same link, so uala can find her, but she cannot find uala.
