Trust a Few by E.M. Swift-Hook
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This gritty story mixes military SciFi and cyberpunk elements with interesting characters. Throw in some amnesia, organized crime, a well organized rebellion, and a touch of predictive modelling & engineering the future, and you have a winner.
A bit of effort is required at times to chug through a few slow parts at the beginning, but the invested time is well worth it once things start clicking together. And there is a lot of clicking, as an intricate web of compelling, larger than life characters begins to assemble itself in front of your eyes. Like all great sci-fi, the real protagonist is the reader, as we are faced with deep-seated questions about the human condition.
Recommended for fans of Altered Carbon and PKD.
